Starved Into Shadows

V5

Cobweb lace on a broken frame. Laughter rotted into a name. Stone floor bites through naked feet. A funeral waltz in four four beat. Empty plates like open mouths. Prayers turn ash, and the salt runs out. Moonlight spills like silver rust. On a table built from trust. Hear it, hear it in the beams. The house is chewing up our dreams. The walls lean closer, slow and kind. Like starving saints with stitched up eyes. STARVED INTO SHADOWS, we fade and we fall. Answer the raven, its merciless call. No light, no mercy, just teeth and bone. This family feast leaves hope unknown. STARVED INTO SHADOWS, we kneel to the night. Candles confess in a sickly light. We sing to the ceiling, and it sings back, gone. A table of hunger, a kingdom of none. Rats in the crumbs with ember eyes. Tiny crowns in a banquet of flies. They wear our fear like velvet coats. And nibble hymns from swollen throats. Mother holds grief to her hollow chest. Rocking a silence that will not rest. Father coughs prayers, thick, raw, undone. Each breath a debt that can’t be won. Above the beam the raven stares. A black judge perched on splintered stairs. More, more, need, feed. More, more, make it bleed. STARVED INTO SHADOWS, we fade and we fall. Answer the raven, its merciless call. No light, no mercy, just teeth and bone. This family feast leaves hope unknown. STARVED INTO SHADOWS, we choke on the hymn. Our hearts are candles burning thin. We beg for morning, and the raven says no. And laughs in our rafters, slow, slow, slow. The air is a lock and the key is gone. We bite the floorboards, taste the dawn. That never comes, and it never came. We traded bread for blame for blame. Sin on sin, the room gets small. I hear the hunger in the wall. It knows my name, and it knows my skin. Let the black choir begin, begin. STARVED INTO SHADOWS, WE FADE AND WE FALL. LISTEN TO THE RAVEN, IT OWNS US ALL. NO LIGHT, NO SOLACE, JUST TEETH GNASHING BONE. THIS FAMILY FEAST, WE DIE ALONE. STARVED INTO SHADOWS, THE CANDLES ALL CRY. THE MOON WON’T SAVE US, IT WON’T LOOK US IN THE EYE. THE FAMILY FEAST WHERE HOPE IS UNKNOOOOOWN.
