Why do we remember the 25th of December

[Verse] What's with the 25th of December Why is it a day we all remember Candles lit or stars aglow What truth hides beneath the snow [Prechorus] Is it ancient whispers Echoing still Or just a calendar bending to will [Chorus] Saturnalia spinning Feast and cheer Sol Invictus rising Conquering fear A patchwork of stories stitched so tight On this cold and quiet winter night [Verse 2] Was it the Romans with their grand parade Or shepherds in fields where a child laid Do we gather for reasons clear Or just for warmth For those held dear [Chorus] Saturnalia spinning Feast and cheer Sol Invictus rising Conquering fear A patchwork of stories stitched so tight On this cold and quiet winter night [Bridge] Maybe it's all of it Maybe it's none Maybe the meaning’s what we've spun A season of light A spark to ignite A place to belong In the longest night
