TIME 004 – Into the Stream of Time | The Time Machine
(Verse 1) The Traveller climbed upon the seat and gripped the polished frame, Then reached towards the lever that would set the world aflame. A sudden tremor seized the room, the walls began to sway, And everything around him seemed to loosen into grey. (Verse 2) The darkness fell and vanished as the daylight flashed anew, While sun and moon together crossed the heavens through his view. The shadows spun like wheelwork and the seasons blurred to streams, As hours collapsed to moments in a rush beyond his dreams. (Chorus) Into the stream of time he rode beyond the common year, While day and night came flickering too swiftly now for fear. The world became a torrent and the centuries took flight, As history rushed around him in a storm of dark and light. (Verse 3) The garden surged and withered while the buildings seemed to breathe, As forms arose around him and then vanished from beneath. The faces of humanity became a passing tide, While generations blossomed, lived, and disappeared outside. (Verse 4) He dared to push the lever and increased the dreadful pace, Until the changing ages barely left a single trace. The stars themselves seemed restless and the weather leapt and spun, While years became mere heartbeats underneath the racing sun. (Chorus) Into the stream of time he rode beyond the common year, While day and night came flickering too swiftly now for fear. The world became a torrent and the centuries took flight, As history rushed around him in a storm of dark and light. (Bridge) No railway ever carried him through distances so vast, For every breath transported him through futures from the past. The present lost its meaning as the numbers climbed sublime, And terror rode beside him in the rushing stream of time. (Outro) Still faster moved the engine through the ages yet unseen, While worlds appeared and vanished in the space that lay between. At last he held the lever as the rushing heavens climbed, A solitary traveller on the darkening road of time.
