[Verse] I've got a pet zebra, and his name is Ed He used to be in my backyard and in my shed He don't eat grain, he just eats hay Well, the other night, he got away [Verse] And Ed, the zebra, he went up town I don't know if they caught him or if he's still around I don't know if he's out on the run I just hope Ed's out there having fun [Chorus] Ed the zebra, where have you gone? Ed the zebra, are you running all alone? Are you out there running 'round Rutherford County? Are you on the highway or behind people's houses? Ed the zebra, are you out there all alone? Ed the zebra, when you comin' home? [Verse] Ed the zebra, they say you're in a creek And you're getting a little hungry 'cause you ain't got nothin' to eat Ed the zebra, you're going up the road You're trottin' and you're gallopin', as fast as you can go [Chorus] Ed the zebra, where have you gone? Ed the zebra, are you running all alone? Are you out there running 'round Rutherford County? Are you on the highway or behind people's houses? Ed the zebra, are you out there all alone? Ed the zebra, when you comin' home? [Verse] Well, I don't know if they caught him But Ed, if you can hear me, you should know You should run as far as you can 'Cause I know what they do to horses, cows, pigs, and lambs And I know what they do to animals around here So run, Ed, run
