If life arrived... with buttons instead of consequences. I'd have worn the symbols away... long before I learned anything. There are conversations... I'd have paused... before finding the wrong words. There are silences... I'd have played... instead of trying to fill them. There are afternoons... I'd gladly fast forward. Not because they mattered less... only because I knew... they would eventually end anyway. And there are ordinary moments... I'd rewind without hesitation... simply because I never realised... I was already inside them. How many apologies... would have sounded different... if I'd been allowed... one more take? How many answers... arrived... too late to change a mind? Perhaps that's why... none of the buttons exist. Perhaps knowing... there isn't another version... is the only reason... this one matters. I'd still reach for them... without thinking. Even knowing... they were never there.
