Character - A Wish Made from the Heart

Character, what does it mean? The word itself sounds strong. It rings of truth and honesty, which chooses right not wrong. It speaks of dedication to a world that does not care. It takes a stand for what is good when others would not dare. It gives to people of itself, with no thoughts of return. When others choose to waste their time, it seeks to grow and learn. It also shows deep loyalty, not just to any cause. But first takes time to think things through and search for hidden flaws. It's diligent, resourceful, too, commitment is its strength. When others quit or just give up, it always goes the length. It sees the need to give a hand to others who are weak. But shuns all arrogance and pride and works on being meek. It seeks to show a thankful heart, in spite of all life's woes. And looks at life realistically, yet cheerfulness it shows. It strives to be responsible, and orderly it lives. It's flexible, decisive, too, and gentle words it gives. It never seeks the big applause; in quietness it moves. Its good effect on all of us with time it always proves. Now as you look around you'll see true character is rare. How desperately we need it, though, to keep us from despair. This hope for all is one that's deep, a wish made from the heart. That as we choose our way in life, character is where we start!
