even if the kingdom turned to stone.

Midnight dreams, hands entwined,
hearts unchained.
We vowed the world beyond the palace,
the road, the sky— our freedom.

threw me into darkness.
Armor rusted,
breath counted by the stones.

Walls closing in,
voices growing harsh.
They called me defiant,
they chained my window to silence.

Did they hear our vow by the lake?
