[Verse 1] He was a boy in preppy clothes, Perfect hair, designerpose, She was a girl with beat-up vans, Skate deck covered in Sharpie plans. He'd watch her from across the quad, His friends all said that she was odd, Too loud, too wild, too hard to tame, But he couldn't look away just the same. [Pre-Chorus] She was rolling past his world each day, He was too afraid of what his friends would say, [Chorus] She was a sk8er girl, he said "see ya later, girl," She wasn't good enough for him, Now he's at her shows, front row where everyone knows, She's everything he's missing, Five years from now, she's sold out crowds, He's stuck in his hometown now, She was a sk8er girl, rocking out her world, And he's just another face she left behind. [Verse 2] She had a band, they played the scene, Local shows at seventeen, He had his path already planned, Business school and his dad's firm in hand. His girlfriend said, "She's just a phase, Those punk rock girls all fade away," But something in him knew the truth, She had the fire, she had the proof. [Pre-Chorus] She was grinding rails while he played it safe, He chose comfort over taking that chase, [Chorus] She was a sk8er girl, he said "see ya later, girl," She wasn't good enough for him, Now he's at her shows, front row where everyone knows, She's everything he's missing, Five years from now, she's sold out crowds, He's stuck in his hometown now, She was a sk8er girl, rocking out her world, And he's just another face she left behind. [Bridge] Too bad that he couldn't see, She was who he wanted to be, Living life, taking risks, breaking free, While he was chasing security. Sorry, boy, but you missed out, She's everything you dreamed about, She's touring cities, living loud, While you're lost in the same old crowd. Now he watches from his phone, Sees her thriving on her own, She's got the life, she's got the stage, He's just turning another page. [Chorus – Final] She was a sk8er girl, he said "see ya later, girl," She wasn't good enough for him, Now he's at her shows, front row where everyone knows, She's everything he's missing, Five years from now, she's sold out crowds, He's stuck in his hometown now, She was a sk8er girl, rocking out her world, And he's just another face she left behind. [Outro] She was a sk8er girl, Rocking out her world, And he's just wishing he could rewind, She was a sk8er girl, Now she owns the world, Left him and his regrets behind.
