πΆ Song 186 β Behold the Man
Paper 186 β Just Before the Crucifixion πΆ Song: Behold the Man (Verse 1 β The Last Request) As soldiers led Him through the gate, He spoke to John about His fate. "Bring my mother before I die," Beneath the darkened morning sky. From Bethany they hurried near, Through grief, confusion, doubt, and fear. Yet when they reached Jerusalem's way, He walked toward Golgotha that day. (Verse 2 β Judas' Fall) Judas came expecting praise, Honor and glory for his ways. But a servant paid his silver fee, The price of a slave, his misery. The promises proved empty lies, And truth stood naked in his eyes. The dream collapsed, the glamour died, As guilt consumed him deep inside. (Chorus) Behold the Man, steadfast and strong, Silent though the night was long. Earth condemned, but heaven could see, The Lord of all eternity. Behold the Man, the Father's light, Standing firm through hatred's night. God revealed in human frame, Love forever still the same. (Verse 3 β The Master's Attitude) Before the courts He chose restraint, No fear, no anger, no complaint. To honest hearts He spoke the truth, To mockers He remained aloof. He would not force another's choice, Nor save Himself by mighty voice. The Father's will He freely chose, And walked the path that before Him rose. (Bridge β Pilate on Trial) Pilate believed that he would judge, Yet heaven saw a different charge. While Jesus stood in chains that day, A ruler's soul was weighed instead. "Behold the Man," the governor cried, As worlds observed from every side. In Him they saw both God and man, The living proof of Heaven's plan. (Verse 4 β David's Faith) While others hid behind closed doors, David sent news to distant shores. His faithful runners crossed the land, Bearing reports at his command. He still believed the words once said, That life would rise beyond the dead. Awaiting dawn with steadfast heart, Prepared to spread the news abroad. (Verse 5 β The Road to Golgotha( The soldiers watched His calm remain, His dignity untouched by pain. No curse escaped, no hatred came, Only devotion to God's name. A universe seemed standing still, Observing one fulfill God's will. The Son of Man moved steadily on, Toward the hour of victory won. (Bridge β The Meaning of the Cross) Not wrath demanding blood be spilled, Nor justice by destruction filled. The Father's love was always there, Before the cross and everywhere. No inherited guilt to erase, No sacrifice creating grace. God's love was true before that day, And shines unchanged forevermore. (Final Chorus) Behold the Man, steadfast and strong, Silent though the night was long. Earth condemned, but heaven could see, The Lord of all eternity. Children of God by faith arise, Born of spirit, claim your prize. The gospel shines for every soul, The Father's love has made us whole. (Outro) The silver fell upon the floor, Its empty promise was no more. Yet through the darkness burned the flame, Of sonship in the Father's name. The cross revealed what life had shown, That God forever calls His own. Behold the Son, the victory won, The Father's will and His were one.
