At least officially. For years, the conflict had shaken the entire Orion Sector. Star systems were devastated, colonies abandoned, and entire civilizations pushed to the brink of collapse. The great battles were long over, but peace did not mean that the chaos had disappeared. Many worlds still lacked food, medicine, and basic infrastructure. New governments struggled to restore order while pirates, warlords, and local power brokers exploited the vacuums left behind. For Darek Stargazer, the end of the war marked the end of an era. For many years he had fought in the Resistance alongside his clone sister Aurelya and his closest companions. Among them were the two Velturans, Vee'Lox and Korax, as well as the Vel'Antarian technocrat and former rebel Nareh. Together they had survived battles, lost comrades, and experienced more than most beings would in several lifetimes. When the war finally ended, many former Resistance fighters went their separate ways. But Darek and his companions stayed together. The bonds forged during years of struggle had become too strong to break. Determined to put their freedom to good use, they acquired an ancient decommissioned Rhanesh freighter called *Sector 9*. The ship was slow, worn out, and in constant need of repairs. Its best days were long behind it. Nevertheless, it became their new home. With this freighter, they traveled throughout the Orion Sector, delivering aid supplies to worlds forgotten by the new trade networks. Medicine, food, spare parts, and technical equipment often reached those in need only because of their efforts. Not every shipment was officially authorized, but Darek had never been the kind of person to place bureaucracy above the well-being of others. Music had been part of the crew's lives since their days in the Resistance. During long journeys, inside abandoned outposts, or between dangerous missions, their instruments had often been the only luxury they could afford. Out of this shared passion, a band was eventually born. Darek became the lead singer and guitarist. Aurelya contributed vocals and played multiple instruments. Nareh added synthesizers, keyboards, and electronic soundscapes. Korax played his signature deep bass, while Vee'Lox sat behind the drums, performing with the same intensity that had once defined him as both a bounty hunter and a Resistance fighter. At first, they performed only occasionally in spaceport bars to earn a little extra money or simply enjoy a rare evening off. But word of their performances began to spread. Before long, they were known across numerous worlds as the crew of an old freighter that delivered aid by day and took over the stages of spaceports by night. Under the name **Interstellar Blues Syndicate**, they became a small legend of the post-war Orion Sector. One of the first songs from this period was **Burning Desire**. The song is not about youthful infatuation or romantic fantasies. It tells the story of someone who has lived through war, loss, and disappointment, yet discovers that a fire still burns within. It is the desire to keep moving forward, to take risks, to allow new connections, and to refuse to let the scars of the past define the future. For Darek, **Burning Desire** became a personal statement. The war had changed many things, but not his ability to feel. Not his hope. Not his desire to look ahead. And that is why the song became one of the first pieces to define the spirit of the Interstellar Blues Syndicate: music for a galaxy trying to find its rhythm again after years of darkness. ______________________________________________________ [Spoken Words] "They say wisdom comes with age." "Maybe." "What really comes with age" "is knowing that some fires" "never stop burning." "You just learn to live with the heat." [Verse 1] You move across the room, I feel it shift The night holds still, there’s nothing left to prove A silent pull I don’t resist You step in close — (I feel the shift) [Bridge 1] There’s no cool ground beneath my feet The air grows tight every time we meet [Chorus] My ears are burning, I’m caught inside This burning desire I don’t try to hide I don’t know where this takes me now But it’s burning, it’s burning — (I won’t back out) [Verse 2] Your voice returns when the lights go low A fragile line I still cross slow No force strong enough to pull me free I let it happen — (I let it be) [Bridge 2] There’s no retreat, no safe disguise I feel it rise — (this burning desire) [Chorus] My ears are burning, I’m caught inside This burning desire I don’t try to hide I don’t know where this takes me now But it’s burning, it’s burning — (I won’t back out) [Verse 3] The world breaks out of perfect form I stand my ground inside the storm If this is risk, I’ll take the weight I’d rather feel — (than hesitate) [Bridge 3] There’s no rewind, no second chance I stay right here — (I take the stance) [Chorus] My ears are burning, I’m caught inside This burning desire I don’t try to hide I don’t know where this takes me now But it’s burning, it’s burning — (I won’t back out) [Spoken Words] “I grew up learning That life never explains itself It just hands you what’s next.” [Final Chorus] My ears are burning, I’m still standing here This burning desire cuts sharp and clear I don’t know where this takes me now But it’s burning — (and I’m walking through)
