[Verse 1] We were scattered under Adam, each one wandering from Your face Children of wrath by nature, rescued only by redeeming grace Sin had bound us in its darkness, held our hearts beneath its power Death had spread its bitter shadow through the long and fallen hour But according to Your mercy, You have brought the wanderers near Through the call of Christ our Shepherd, You have gathered exiles here From the ruins of rebellion You claimed a people as Your own Now the wanderer and stranger find in Christ a lasting home [Pre-Chorus] Call us out Call us near Make us one Bring us here [Chorus] Gather what was scattered Bring the exiles home Build Your house among us Christ our peace alone [Instrumental Break / Drop 1] [instrumental] [Verse 2] You have called us by the gospel, You have brought us near to stay You have washed us, saved and sealed us, set our wandering hearts Your way What You purchased by Your passion You are gathering by Your power What was scattered under Adam You will raise in glory’s hour Not by works or will of man, not by merit, tribe, or birth But according to Your counsel set before the dawn of earth Stone by stone You raise Your temple, heart by heart You make us one Till the beauty of the Bride is made perfect for the Son [Pre-Chorus] Call us out Call us near Make us one Bring us here [Chorus] Gather what was scattered Bring the exiles home Build Your house among us Christ our peace alone [Instrumental Break / Drop 2] [instrumental] [Bridge] By Your mercy You have found us From the grave You called us near Through the gospel You have bound us As one people gathered here By Your counsel You ordained us For the praise of Christ the King By Your Spirit You sustain us Till the ransomed church shall sing No more strangers No more walls No more silence When You call No more darkness No more fear No more distance You are here No more wandering No more night All Your people Raised in light [Chorus] Gather what was scattered Bring the exiles home Build Your house among us Christ our peace alone [Final Chorus] Gather what was scattered From the dust and stones Raise Your living temple Make our hearts Your home Gather what was scattered Till the nations know Once we were no people Now Your mercy shows
