The Man In The Mirror
There’s an old oak table in this empty house, Where dreams still linger but don’t make a sound. My work boots know every crack in this floor, But they can’t carry this heart anymore. Some nights the silence is louder than rain, Every old memory still calls my name. I’ve learned a smile can cover the pain… We try to hide it, but it’s always the same. Everybody says tomorrow comes… Nobody tells you how long the night can last. I’m still lookin’ for the man That my mama swore I’d find. Somewhere beneath these scars, Somewhere behind this tired mind. If grace still shines on broken souls, I pray it still shines on me. I’m still chasin’ every sunrise… For the man in the mirror that’s me. I’ve worn regret like an old denim coat, Buttoned it up every time I lost hope. I’ve chased tomorrow down endless roads, Only to find they all led me home. Sometimes heaven feels so far away, Sometimes it’s right here in the words I say. Maybe faith ain’t livin’ without fear… Maybe faith just keeps us here. If tomorrow never promised sunshine, I’d still get up and try again. Maybe every broken piece Made me stronger in the end. The man I’ve been… The man I’ll be… Are finally becoming The same man I see. Now I’ve finally found the man My mama always knew I’d be. Every scar became a story, Every road set my heart free. I ain’t perfect… Never claimed to be. But every mile brought me closer… To the man in the mirror that’s me. Maybe one day I’ll look back… And smile… Because I finally became… The man… Looking back at me.
