Push, and you’ll miss the music. Float, and it finds you. A leaf, a laugh, a duck in the fog— you’ll see it all when you’re not looking. Did you notice the sparrow landing on my pen? The poem began exactly then. I used to be a poet like you, it tweeted. Then I learned to fly instead. The sun takes its time melting shadows from the grass. Why do I rush so? I’ve forgotten— All things pass, yet the eternal never leaves us. This moment has no deadline— we keep passing through doors with no knobs, the long way teaching me, always arriving where the heart is. This I know— All things pass, yet the eternal never leaves us. We can’t part with the heart. ───── [Lyrics © Mario Caoile]
