Paper Lantern

[Verse 1] I found a paper lantern In a grocery bag Bent a little crooked With a string and a tag You said it was nothing I said, "Watch it glow" Now it sits on the table Like it knows what I know [Pre-Chorus] It took one spark To change the room One small flame And I was doomed To smile at the crack In the ordinary [Chorus] Paper lantern, paper lantern You light up the plain old night Paper lantern, paper lantern Making the broken edges bright Hold steady, hold steady Don't fall from my hand tonight Paper lantern, paper lantern You make the small things feel right [Verse 2] Rain on the window Tea getting cold Your keys by the sink And the story told We talked in circles Till the whole sky broke And that little glow Turned the silence to gold [Pre-Chorus] It took one spark To change the room One small flame And I was doomed To keep your name In the softest light [Chorus] Paper lantern, paper lantern You light up the plain old night Paper lantern, paper lantern Making the broken edges bright Hold steady, hold steady Don't fall from my hand tonight Paper lantern, paper lantern You make the small things feel right [Bridge] If the wind comes hard I'll turn my back Cup both hands And guard the crack 'Cause I like this hope A little fragile A little bent A little magical [Chorus] Paper lantern, paper lantern You light up the plain old night Paper lantern, paper lantern Making the broken edges bright Hold steady, hold steady Don't fall from my hand tonight Paper lantern, paper lantern You make the small things feel right
