I rewrote this and have a "Twenty Two edit" because i didn't like the last line of the Chorus, After writing it and posting it, I was listening and realised I had the last two lines ending with "hand." I changed to, Reach out; we're here. Let's take a stand. Too many friends have gone by their own hand. If you get a chance, check out the other version. ________________________________ [Verse] He's got a picture from the high school days, Smiling faces in a tight embrace. But behind those eyes, there's a storm inside. We never saw the hurt, the pain he tried to hide. [Verse] Down at the bar, we'd laugh 'til close, Trading old stories, trading old woes. We never knew it was his last goodbye. Whispered farewell in the dark night sky. [Chorus] Don't go, brother; you are not alone. We're here together in this heartland home. Reach out, we're here, just take our hand. Too many friends gone by their own hand. [Verse] Sarah’s porch light has been burning bright, Waiting for a call that never came that night. She’d give her heart to see him through. But now she's left with the pain and blues. [Bridge] We’re a brotherhood; we're bound by strings. In this small town where the church bell rings. Every tear and every fight, We'll stand together through the night. [Chorus] Don't go, brother; you are not alone. We're here together in this heartland home. Reach out, we're here, just take our hand. Too many friends gone by their own hand.
