This voice is not on my playlist, I hear it coming from within I have to hear it day and night in every corner of my mind Heart-wrenching cries and pleas for help - they drag me back to deep regret For the decisions I once made, which caused somebody's pain and death I was a hope for someone small, someone much purer than my own I broke her trust and crushed her hope, she was just one of many more I wish it was about my failure, but I'm afraid the woe is much greater They pay each day for our sins, mothers - along with their kids We break their trust and shed their blood, to keep alive what should have died And now, should I believe it's worth it? Would someone pay with gold for a foul thing? My people, tear your hearts, not garments; return to God, for He is gracious Remember what I taught you once: if a seed won't die, it can't be a plant Who loves his soul, he's sure to lose it; who hates it, he'll return to true life
