[Verse 1] We met with cake on our shirts Two birthdays, two years apart You came first, older and calm I came in with a spark in my heart You kept my names in your pocket I kept your storms in my chest Seventeen years of the real stuff And we never gave secrets to guess [Pre-Chorus] You know the code I know the code When the room gets loud We take the road Side by side Same old scar We were written in The same old stars [Chorus] Two birthdays, one bond One bond, one bond Seventeen years on We still stand strong You kept my heart safe I kept yours too Best friends forever Best friends, it's true [Verse 2] We were lovers from far away Just a few seasons, then gone But nothing could break what was built When the distance was done, we were strong I still know the way you go quiet I still know your grin when you lie We held each other's secrets Like matches under dry sky [Pre-Chorus] You know the code I know the code When the room gets loud We take the road Side by side Same old scar We were written in The same old stars [Chorus] Two birthdays, one bond One bond, one bond Seventeen years on We still stand strong You kept my heart safe I kept yours too Best friends forever Best friends, it's true [Bridge] If the world comes down I'll still call your name If I lose my way You'll know I'm the same Older by two, but you never led me wrong Younger by two, but you held me all along [Final Chorus] Two birthdays, one bond One bond, one bond Seventeen years on We still stand strong You kept my heart safe I kept yours too Best friends forever Best friends, it's true Best friends forever Till the end, me and you
