Lace and the List

Verse 1 I stepped into the store, felt the holiday cheer, (Such a naughty boy, what are you doing here?) The mannequins were posed, draped in satin and lace, I tried to look away, but my pulse set the pace. Pre-Chorus Oh, velvet dreams, stockings hung so high, (You can touch, but you can’t buy), I’ve got gifts to grab, gotta keep my head straight, (But you’re tangled up, honey, in a holiday fate). Chorus Lace and the list, oh, I’m losing control, (This little temptation’s stealing your soul). The bells are ringin’, but my heart's in a spin, (Snap out of it, baby!) Let the shopping begin! Verse 2 I wandered to the back, where the lingerie glows, (Did you come here for presents—or something that shows?) The clerk gave a wink, said, “Anything catch your eye?” I stammered and I mumbled, “Uh, just passing by…” Pre-Chorus Satin whispers, threads of sin, (Let me wrap you up, where should we begin?) But my list is callin’, I can’t lose my grip, (Don’t fight it, sugar, just let yourself slip). Chorus Lace and the list, oh, I’m losing control, (This little temptation’s stealing your soul). The bells are ringin’, but my heart's in a spin, (Snap out of it, baby!) Let the shopping begin! Bridge Lights dimmed low, and the music swayed, (Oh, you’re deep in it now, no room for escape). Santa's on my shoulder, saying, “Stay in line, kid,” But the devil in red whispered, “You know what you did…” Chorus Lace and the list, oh, I’m caught in a fight, (Such a tangled web on this silent night). The bells are ringin’, but my heart's in a spin, (Snap out of it, baby!) Let the shopping begin! Outro I snapped to my senses, ran for the toy aisle instead, (Oh, what a shame—just think of that bed!) But when Christmas Eve comes, and we turn down the light, (Guess who’s waiting, honey, for a silent night?)
