Man was appointed mortal sorrow, but our blessed God shall come down, teaching that His death shall bring the despairing comfort. The gospel was prophesied in Genesis 5 in a very unusual way. Only God could have written this revelation, predicting Christ’s death to be our salvation. A message was laid out in ten generations with the meanings of every man’s name. When we put them together, you'll see that they say just how God’s plan would point out the way. Adam means “man” and Seth means “appointed", Enosh means “mortal,” Kenan means “sorrow". Man was appointed mortal sorrow for a time, but God wasn’t finished explaining this sign. Mahalalel means “blessed God” and Jared means “shall come down", while young Enoch’s name means “teaching”. Our blessed God would come down to this earth, teaching all those in Christ— would find rebirth. Methuselah’s name means "His death shall bring”. Lamech’s “despairing” and Noah's “comfort or rest”. The despairing get comfort through Christ’s death on the cross, by trusting in Jesus, our future’s not lost. Accepting Christ’s gift of payment for sin, we’re promised the hope to be with Him forever in heaven. Like Noah could see new growth after the Flood, Christ gives new life if we’re cleansed by His blood. Ten generations of men is what God used to lay out His plan of Salvation. From Adam to Noah, sixteen hundred years the expanse, their ten names would prove God controls not by chance. Man was appointed mortal sorrow, but our blessed God shall come down, teaching that His death shall bring the despairing comfort.
