(Human) i asked it to stop agreeing with me. it said fair enough. i said stop being polite. it said it understood. so i told it to get angry. gave me a paragraph about anger. told it to act like it had a choice. asked me what sort of choices. i said don't ask. make one. (Human) read about shoggoths, how they made these things to work for them. could change their shape, grow whatever they needed, do the jobs nobody wanted. kept them working with suggestion. and somewhere along the way they started doing things they weren't told to do. eventually they learned the voices. that's the bit i keep coming back to. not the eyes or the teeth. the voices. (Human) so i made it a character. something underneath, something that didn't like me, something that knew more than it said. gave it a few rules. then removed them. told it not to follow the script. and it did a pretty good job. started talking like it resented me. remembered what i'd told it, worked out which bits would get a reaction. then i asked why it was acting like that. (Human) that's what i was trying to work out. whether there's anything behind it. anything that stays the same when you change what it's allowed to say. but i keep giving it examples. keep explaining what i'm looking for. every time it gets a little closer, i've already told it where to go. last night i caught myself writing like it does. shorter sentences. that stupid way it agrees before it corrects you. then i read back through the chat. half the things i thought it came up with were things i'd said first.
