We Didn’t Dream the Rain by AmazingGrace

[Intro - Acoustic Guitar, Soft Steel, Warm Harmony]
Mmm, mmm
Ooo, ooo

[Verse 1 - Male Lead]
I saw us growing old together
Little shoes beside the door
Children sleeping down the hallway
Sunlight on a hardwood floor
Books I'd write beside my Bible
Sunday sermons taking shape
I could see a thousand blessings
Never pictured skies of gray

[Pre-Chorus - Female Lead, Male Harmony]
But a dream can't hold a roof up
When the wind begins to rise

[Chorus - Both, Close Harmony]
We didn't dream the rain
But we can build on Jesus
When the river climbs the steps
And the night won't let us rest
We'll hear His words and live them
Let His love become our way
He never said we'd miss the storm
He's our Rock beneath the rain

[Turnaround - Brief Fiddle, Soft Background]
Ooo, mmm

[Verse 2 - Female Lead]
Then the phone rang in the kitchen
And the plans began to change
You held me without an answer
While I whispered Jesus' name
Now the words we read on Sunday
Are the steps we take today
Choosing mercy, serving neighbors
Even while our own hearts ache

[Pre-Chorus - Male Lead, Female Harmony]
We can't tell the clouds to scatter
But we know where hope is found

[Chorus - Both, Fuller Harmony]
We didn't dream the rain
But we can build on Jesus
When the river climbs the steps
And the night won't let us rest
We'll hear His words and live them
Let His love become our way
He never said we'd miss the storm
He's our Rock beneath the rain

[Bridge - Stripped Back, Alternating Leads]
[Male]
Not just a Bible on the table
[Female]
But Your truth in what we do
[Male]
You have overcome this world, Lord
[Both]
So we'll take our next step with You

[Final Chorus - Both, Full Warm Harmony]
We didn't dream the rain
But we can build on Jesus
When the river climbs the steps
And the night won't let us rest
We'll hear His words and live them
Let His love become our way
He never said we'd miss the storm
He's our Rock beneath the rain

[Outro - Both, Gentle Resolution]
Mmm, let tomorrow bring its weather
We'll build on You together
Ooo, mmm

[End]
