I AM WUKONG (SING MY SONG) MBTF

[Intro / Chant] Great Sage Equal of Heaven Great Sage Equal of Heaven MAKE BEAUTIFUL TROUBLE FOREVER I AM WUKONG WHO WU MU I AM WUKONG WHO WU MU [Verse 1] Born from stone with a grin in my teeth Cloud underfoot and a fire underneath Heaven tried to write my name in a chain I laughed so hard that it turned into rain One hair falls Ten more rise One little spark becomes ten thousand eyes You look for me I’m already gone Dancing in the echo of a stolen gong [Pre-Chorus] Put me in the kettle Let me boil, let me shine Drink the moonlight Call it mine Dragon-tail stirring up the tea All of my shadows are copying me [Chorus] I AM WUKONG Great Sage, Equal of Heaven I AM WUKONG Can’t be caught, can’t be lessened WHO WU MU Who is the monkey looking back at you? WHO WU MU One becomes many and the many break through I AM WUKONG Wildfire wearing a crown I AM WUKONG Try to hold me, I burn it down [Monkey Dance Hook] Now dance with me, dance with me Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free Shake the sky, bend the tree Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free Banana moon, banana sun Peel one world and reveal the next one Pop pop pop, then I’m gone Laugh so hard that the gods sing along Dance with me, dance with me Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free [Verse 2] Banana in my left hand Thunder in my right Peel back Heaven Take a bite My nature is irrepressible Unwritten, ungovernable Flip the scroll and bend the rule Make the gods look like fools Seven names Seventy skins Every little copy has a trickster grin If I fall I return If I laugh The heavens learn Here to cause a tantrum That shakes the grey gods in heaven Turn one spark to ten thousand suns Now count me, count me, count me again Ah, the art of replication Simple little chaos meditation I just channel inner storm Then I split into a thousand forms This one laughs That one bites That one rewrites heavenly rights This one’s drinking cosmic tea That one’s pretending to be me [Pre-Chorus 2] Kettle on, flame high Dragon in my pocket, cloud in my eye If they ask why I multiply Tell them stone-born monkeys don’t comply [Chorus] I AM WUKONG Great Sage, Equal of Heaven I AM WUKONG Can’t be caught, can’t be lessened WHO WU MU Who is the monkey looking back at you? WHO WU MU One becomes many and the many break through I AM WUKONG Wildfire wearing a crown I AM WUKONG Try to hold me, I burn it down [Monkey Dance Hook 2] Dance with me, dance with me Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free One-two-three, who-wu-mu I copy me, you copy you Who? Wu! Mu! Move like the moon got loose in you Banana moon, banana sun Peel one world and reveal the next one Dance with me, dance with me Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free [Invitation Bridge] Copy this song, go swing with me Swing from it like a branch on a tree Make your own flame, let it run Monkey see and monkey become Copy this song, set it free Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free One voice sparks a thousand more Great Sage laughing at Heaven’s door Copy this song in the sun Swing from it like a branch on a tree Make your own little monkey flame Then dance it back to me [Breakdown] No throne above me No chain around me No law can count me No cage has found me My nature is Irrepressible My nature is Irrepressible Here to cause a tantrum Shake the grey gods in heaven Here to cause a tantrum One spark becomes eleven No throne can hold me No scroll can fold me No god controls me No name patrols me I am the laugh in the locked gate I am the spark in the mandate I am the glitch in the empire’s song I am, I am, I am Wukong [Spoken / Trickster Break] Wait. Did you think that was the real me? Cute. [Final Chorus] I AM WUKONG Great Sage, Equal of Heaven I AM WUKONG Born from stone, never broken WHO WU MU Who are you when the mask comes through? WHO WU MU I copy myself and become more true I AM WUKONG Wildfire up in the song I AM WUKONG Pop pop pop and I’m gone [Final Hook / Outro] Now dance with me, dance with me Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free Banana moon, banana sun Peel one world and reveal the next one Copy me, copy you Who-wu-mu, who-wu-mu Swing it loose, let it be Do the monkey dance and we’ll be free Great Sage Equal of Heaven My nature is Irrepressible I AM WUKONG WHO WU MU I AM WUKONG WHO WU MU
