Psalm 27

[verse 1] Jehovah is my light and shield— Whom shall I fear? My fate is sealed. Jehovah is my fortress strong— What threat can shake me, right or wrong? [verse 2] When evil men come near to kill, They trip and fall—they can't fulfill. Though armies camp on every side, My heart stands firm, I will not hide. [chorus] One thing I ask, one thing I seek: To dwell with God, both strong and meek. To gaze upon His beauty bright, And seek Him in His house of light. [verse 3] In troubled days He hides my soul, He lifts me high, He makes me whole. My head shall rise above my foes, With songs of joy my spirit glows. [bridge] Hear me, Jehovah, when I cry! Be merciful and draw me nigh. You said, “Seek My face”—I do! Don't hide from me, but see me through. [verse 4] Though father, mother both may go, Jehovah holds me—this I know. Teach me Your way and lead me still, Past every trap, through every hill. [outro] I will see goodness, bold and blessed, Here in the land where souls find rest. So wait for God—stand firm, be brave! Jehovah comes. His arm will save.
