Midnight engine Redline sky Windows down You and I (hey!) Plastic keychain Dancing free in the breeze Old cassette jam Spinning back with the beat Your hand out Catching sparks from the lights I’m laughing But my heart’s on the line On this highway of the night We go higher Higher Chasing every flashing light Like a wildfire Fire Every mile I feel alive Burning bright beside you On this highway of the night I can’t stop Can’t lose you Cheap sunglasses On the dash in a pile Cherry soda On your lips Crooked smile You shout “faster!” Like a dare to the dawn If morning finds us Will the magic live on? On this highway of the night We go higher Higher Chasing every flashing light Like a wildfire Fire Every mile I feel alive Burning bright beside you On this highway of the night I can’t stop Can’t lose you
