[Intro - rapped] They're still looking at the hill [Verse 1 - rapped] There's a shot in every movie that we never get tired of The horizon goes to dust and there's a sound behind the line And the whole room exhales Everybody sits up straight That's the only part you'd watch again You've watched it ninety times So listen Down there somebody's still watching for that dust Standing in the open with their head turned to the ridge Holding on another hour doing what we taught them The good ones always come and they always come in time And the ridge is not empty The ridge is full of men A whole line of shoulders with the morning coming through They can see you That's the thing Nobody up there is hidden You turned the volume down and made a coffee It went cold [Build - rapped] Is anybody going to save us That's the only question in the valley Nobody down there wants a speech They want dust coming off that ridge [Hook - rapped, hard] There is backup Backup's real The backup doesn't come The backup's got an evening The backup has plans The backup, they can see it The backup, they can hear And the backup's very, very sorry from up here They're still looking at the hill Look what's on the hill [Verse 2 - rapped] And I know what you'd say back and it's better than you think Not I'm broke not I'm one man That's the small excuse The real one is I can't tell from here I wasn't down there I don't know And that's fair You don't know Nobody asked you to know But they count that ridge every morning and the number never drops You're not a rumour You're a man with the sun behind your head You haven't moved You're not hidden They have looked at you all day They're not waiting to be saved they're waiting to be joined It costs you almost nothing And I'm writing this from up here Same boots on Same cold cup And still you don't come down [Build - rapped] Is anybody going to save us That's the only question in the valley Nobody down there wants a speech They want dust coming off that ridge [Verse 3 - rapped] Somebody is going to ask us where we stood Not tonight Not soon But the question is already written And we'll say we stood apart Apart is not a place Apart's a word for standing on a hill with a good view Close enough to count them far enough to keep our names And the road is right there It has been right there all along [Hook - rapped, hard] There is backup Backup's real The backup doesn't come The backup's got an evening The backup has plans The backup, they can see it The backup, they can hear And the backup's very, very sorry from up here They're still looking at the hill They're still looking at the hill Look what's on the hill [Outro - rapped, fading drums] Come down One of us is nothing Two of us is dust Come down
