The strip mall hums with a lifeless sign, Empty lots stretch, just gravel and time. Neighbors are dreaming, but I’m wide awake, Drowning in boredom, my mind starts to break. Chain-link fences, a mind-numbing loop, Zombies spray names where the hollow kids group. Friday feels empty, the clock won’t tick, The louder I shout, the less my voice clicks. Every corner bends back on itself, These streets don’t lead anywhere else. I’m wired and restless, stuck in between, Concrete and silence, thin breaks in the screen. I won’t disappear into despair and defeat, My footsteps won't echo in these dead-end streets. I’ve got posters of cities that I’ve never seen, A voice in the static keeps calling at me. If escape is a crime, then I’ll break the law, Kick out the screen door, I won’t look at all. Every corner bends back on itself, These streets don’t lead anywhere else. I’m wired and restless, stuck in between, Concrete and silence, thin breaks in the screen. I won’t disappear into despair and defeat, My footsteps won't echo in these dead-end streets. I stare at the nothing until it stares back, The hush twists my thoughts into the black. The staleness takes my will to survive, I scream through the dark just to know I’m alive. Street lamps dim slowly, reminders crawl up the walls, I chase every longshot just hoping one calls. The radio crackles with the same useless song, I grab at the chaos, to take me along. Every corner bends back on itself, These streets don’t lead anywhere else. I’m wired and restless, stuck in between, Concrete and silence, thin breaks in the screen. I won’t disappear into despair and defeat, My footsteps won't echo in these dead-end streets. I'm restless and drifting, lost in between, Cracks in the silence where no one has been. I won’t stay trapped, I won't reward 'em, I'll leap into nothing, to escape all life's boredom.
