A low, sludgy, distorted baritone guitar plays a simple, ominous two-note pattern.] ... ... ... ... [Verse 1: The instrumentation remains sparse and tense. The vocal is sung in a clean, but strained and confrontational tone, pushed slightly ahead of the beat.] I speak up slow, in measured tones Bury it all beneath my bones I've learned to wear a softer mask And hide the pain where no one asks I carry on, everything still cracks But something claws behind my back It breathes — it almost speaks But I just clench my teeth [Chorus 1: The main hook crashes in: the baritone guitar plays a simple, brutally heavy power-chord riff. A second, higher-gain guitar is layered on top. The vocals remain strained but are now supported by a second vocal track, screamed and buried deep in the mix, almost subliminal.] Like a tiger behind glass Too wild to trust, too dark to pass You see the calm — the put-on face But never what I keep encased You look away — you can’t take in That part that lives beneath my skin So I just shut it, let it pace Behind the glass I hold in place [Verse 2: The heavy guitars cut out, returning to the sparse arrangement of Verse 1. The bass and drums feel heavier now by contrast.] Tell myself it's better this way No one wants the fucked-up wreck I am I hide desire, dull the need It’s safer when I split And every time I let it claw I feel your shift, I watch you go So I retreat, shut that gate And leave that part to suffocate [Chorus 2: The wall of guitars crashes back in with the same force. The buried screamed layer is now slightly more audible, a texture of pure rage beneath the sung words.] Like a tiger behind glass Primal, raw — but only safe to watch The part of me with desperate eyes So tired of this life of lies I hold it back, just let it ache Afraid of what it means to break You love how still I always seem But not the chaos underneath [Bridge: All instruments drop out except for the low, distorted baritone guitar holding a single, feedback-laden note.] ... ... [The Voice: Raw and cracking] "I was never taught to scream Just to fucking behave To bleed in ways that don’t disturb To crave but not to claim But it’s in me — all claws and teeth And it’s getting hard to name Which part is me And which is the cage" [Final Chorus: The heaviest moment of the song. The drums are now full-on rock, with crashing cymbals. The guitars are at maximum gain. The vocals are sung with raw power, and the screamed layer is now almost equal in the mix, a duet of control and chaos.] Like a tiger behind glass Still breathing, but scared to ask Would you stay If I came undone? If I stopped hiding Every fucking one Of the pieces I repress Would you love me less? [Outro: The final chord rings out and is cut short. The only sound left is the hum and feedback of the guitar amplifier, which fades over two seconds to complete silence.] ... ...
