I saw you smiling through the screen, trying to give a little light. Sending kindness out to strangers, trying to make somebody’s night. But then the words came one by one, sharp enough to pull you down. And I could see behind your smile you were trying not to drown. Pre-Chorus People can be cruel when they don’t have to see your eyes. But don’t let someone else’s darkness teach your heart to lose its light. Chorus Don’t let the hate win, don’t let it change your heart. Don’t let a thousand careless words tear everything apart. Don’t let the hate win, keep the kindness that you give. They may try to make you smaller, but don’t forget why you chose to live. Don’t let the hate win. Verse 2 Not every voice deserves a place inside your head tonight. Some people throw their pain at others just to make themselves feel right. You don’t have to answer every comment, you don’t have to prove your worth. Your smile still means something even when someone tries to hurt. Pre-Chorus You are more than what they type, more than strangers passing through. Don’t give people who don’t know you the power to define you. Chorus Don’t let the hate win, don’t let it change your heart. Don’t let a thousand careless words tear everything apart. Don’t let the hate win, keep the kindness that you give. They may try to make you smaller, but don’t forget why you chose to live. Don’t let the hate win. Bridge Step away when you need silence. Close the screen. Breathe again. Being strong does not mean you have to read every cruel thing they send. Keep the people who love you close. Keep your laughter. Keep your light. The loudest voices on the internet are not always the ones that are right. Final Chorus Don’t let the hate win, not today, not any day. Let them keep their bitterness, you don’t have to carry it away. Don’t let the hate win, there is still so much good to give. If your smile reaches one good heart, then that is reason enough to keep it. Don’t let the hate win. Outro Keep your smile. Keep your heart. Keep being you. And don’t let the hate win. Be just you, Dylan
