Letter 31 – The scene in the temple and the decision to arrest Christ
[Introduction]: Scandalized by the commerce taking place there, Jesus overturns the tables of the money changers in the temple, provoking the wrath of the high priests who immediately decide to arrest him. [Verse 1]: The silver coins clink on the marble floor, The bird cages fly beneath the shadow of a tree. He overturns the tables in the height of his wrath, Chasing the merchants out of the Father's house. "My house is a house of prayer!" rings out his voice, Breaking the trade amidst the dread. [Chorus]: Overturned tables and divine wrath, The high priests have chosen the worst path. He must be arrested, reduced to silence, Before he destroys their old power. [Verse 2]: In the shadow of the columns, the priests grind their teeth, Seeing this affront committed from within. This is too much for the Sanhedrin and Caiaphas assembled, This man is a danger that must be eliminated. "If he continues like this, the people will rise up, He must be stopped before the end of the day." [Chorus]: Overturned tables and divine wrath, The high priests have chosen the worst path. He must be arrested, reduced to silence, Before he destroys their old power. [Verse 3]: The sentence falls, cold and implacable, Signed in secret against the formidable one. They look for a traitor, a flaw, a discrete moment, To seal his fate in a dark secret. The scene in the temple has sealed his arrest, The infernal machine is now set in motion. [Outro]: The plot is organized in the golds of the temple, The programmed death of a love without parallel.
