Seats Remember Applause
Spotlight on the dust and the dust behaves like prayer The curtain breathes in sections of a half-remembered air Every empty seat remembers the architecture of a body the weight of leaning forward the faith of hands gone shoddy We rehearse for no one and call that kind of holy We speak into the rafters and the rafters answer slowly No jump scares only echoes No witness only light If silence is a kingdom we trespass here tonight
