Deus Vult (God Wills It)
[Intro – Gregorian chant] Deus… vuult… Deus… vuult… [Verse 1 – slow doom march] From the north we ride under crimson cross, Steel on our breasts, the Lamb on our hearts. “Put on the full armor of God,” the Apostle cried, Girded with truth, the sword of the Spirit at our side. (Ephesians 6:11-17) [Pre-Chorus] The Saracen moon bleeds over Outremer’s sand, Yet the Lord of Hosts has lifted His hand. Hear the trumpet of Zion, the final command! [Chorus – galloping riffs, full choir] Deus vult! Deus vult! By the blood of the Martyrs, by the wounds of the Son, We march for the Sepulchre till the day is won! Deus vult! Deus vult! Till Jerusalem’s gates shine bright in the sun! [Verse 2 – soaring melodic vocals] Through the desert storm and the valley of death, We fear no evil, for Thou art with us yet. Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort the brave, (Psalm 23:4) Every knight a pilgrim, every sword a stave. [Verse 3 – heavier groove, rising intensity] The saints beneath the altar cry, “How long, O Lord?” Till their blood is avenged and Thy wrath is poured. (Revelation 6:9-10) We are the answer forged in flame and steel, The vengeance of heaven made fiercely real. [Chorus – bigger, higher] Deus vult! Deus vult! By the blood of the Martyrs, by the wounds of the Son, We march for the Sepulchre till the day is won! Deus vult! Deus vult! Till Jerusalem’s gates shine bright in the sun! [Bridge – lute + monk chant] Surrexit Dominus de sepulchro Qui pro nobis pependit in ligno [Breakdown – guttural growls] Crush the infidel! Break the chains of the tomb! The Lion of Judah roars through the gloom! (Revelation 5:5) [Final Chorus – massive, triumphant] Deus vult! Deus vult! From Acre’s walls to Golgotha’s hill, We ride with the angels, we ride to fulfill! Deus vult! Deus vult! Till the Cross flies high and the crescent is still! [Outro – Gregorian chant over fading drums] In hoc signo vinces… Deus… vult… Deus… vult… Amen.
