It was Halloween night and everyone in the house was excited. I was carving a pumpkin in the living room while my brother was decorating the window with fake spiders. Our parents were preparing some scary snacks in the kitchen and spooky music was playing in the background. Outside, the wind was blowing and the trees were moving in the dark. Bats were flying around the garden and the moon was shining brightly in the cloudy sky. Everything seemed perfect for Halloween night — until something strange happened. Suddenly, we heard a loud BANG! coming from the garden. The lights went off, and we ran to the window. My little sister started crying, because she was scared. Dad lit a candle while Mum was trying to calm her down. A few seconds later, we noticed a shadow moving behind the trees. I opened the door slowly while everyone was watching in silence. The wind was blowing harder, and something white was flying across the garden. We all screamed — but then we realised it was only our neighbour’s ghost costume that was hanging on the clothesline! Finally, the lights came back on, and everyone laughed. While Mum was making hot chocolate, we sat around the table and told funny stories about the scariest Halloweens we ever had. It was a spooky night, but we enjoyed every minute of it!
