We were driving through New England, Where the autumn colors glowed. Tall green pines stood all around us, As we traveled down the road. Then a burst of brilliant color Reached above the sea of green. Like a flame among the branches, It was such a lovely scene. I pointed out the colors, And he quietly replied, "That tree is reaching for the light," So it stretches its branches wide. "Trees need the light to live," he said, "Without it, they can't grow." And in those simple words he spoke, Was a truth I've come to know. I'll keep reaching for the Light, Keep turning toward the Son. Choosing truth and choosing goodness, With each new day begun. For the Light is more than beauty, More than warmth upon my face. It's the source of life within me, And the promise of His grace. There are so many things around us That can draw our eyes away. So many voices calling, Trying to lead our hearts astray. But every day brings choices, And the chance to turn again, Toward the One who gives us life, Our Savior and our Friend. I'll keep reaching for the Light, Keep turning toward the Son. Choosing truth and choosing goodness, With each new day begun. For the Light is more than beauty, More than warmth upon my face. It's the source of life within me, And the promise of His grace. I don't have to see the sunshine To know that it is there. Even when the shadows gather, I can turn to Him in prayer. And when I cannot see the pathway, Or know what lies ahead, I can choose to keep on reaching, Trusting where His light has led. I'll keep reaching for the Light, Through the shadows and the sun. Choosing faith and choosing kindness, Until my journey here is done. And like those brilliant autumn colors Reaching high above the green, May His light shine through my living, In my choices that are seen. I'll keep reaching for the Light, Let His love guide me through the night. And every day I'll choose what's right— I'll keep reaching for the Light!
