[Verse 1] Keep God the first, the one you trust, He holds all things; His ways are just. Though storms may rage, His plan will stay, His steadfast love will light your way. [Verse 2] Choose friends who walk in holy fire, Who lift you up and call you higher. Esteem the saints who guide the way, Where wisdom lives, there strength will stay. [Chorus] This is what I’ll say to my younger self, To learn these truths and nothing else. Have eyes to see and ears to hear, Live with wisdom for my future self. [Verse 3] Guard every word, let grace be heard, A gentle tongue reflects His Word. Seek not success, but Christ alone, What fills the soul will not be gone. [Verse 4] Your mind and body, spirit too, Belong to Him in all you do. Forgive with love, be true, be strong, And keep on growing all life long. [Chorus] This is what I’ll say to my younger self, To learn these truths and nothing else. Have eyes to see and ears to hear, Live with wisdom for my future self. [Bridge] These words of grace I speak to you, The Lord has brought me safely through. His truth has shaped me all my days, His mercy taught my heart to praise. The past is gone, His grace is near, His mercy casts away all fear. I’m not the same, His song I sing, By grace I run, His praise I bring. [Chorus] This is what I’ll say to my younger self, To learn these truths and nothing else. Have eyes to see and ears to hear, Live with wisdom for my future self. This is what I’ll say to my younger self, To learn these truths and nothing else. Have eyes to see and ears to hear, Live with wisdom for my future self.
