Verse 1 Our house we built with stone, And swore that it would stand. Though careful all our work may be, And strength was laid in every beam, ’Tis kept only by Your hand. Verse 2 The tempest battered on, The walls gave way and groaned. Yet in the ruin mercy reigned— A whisper from the Builder came: “Look to your eternal home.” Chorus The storms may rage, and walls may fall, Yet the House of Christ stands sure and tall. Now here I live, by Your Spirit’s call, On the Rock that stands before the Fall. Verse 3 So teach my soul to rest, And build my life on Thee. No tower of pride, no work of mine, But faith upon Thy Word divine, To stand eternally. Verse 4 When earth and time arrive At their long-awaited end, The City bright shall rise above— We’ll see the Father, Spirit, Son, And dwell with Him again. Chorus (repeat) The storms may rage, and walls may fall, Yet the House of Christ stands sure and tall. Now here I live, by Your Spirit’s call, On the Rock that stands before the Fall.
