I'll Get To It (Acoustic Oriental)

[Spoken Intro] Today's the day, and nothing's stopping me now. [Verse 1] Coffee's hot, the cursor blinks, I'm ready to begin — then a new number on my inbox lures me in. "Just a quick reply," but many minutes gone, the blank page sits, it'll wait till dawn. [Chorus 1] I'll get to it, I'll get to it, but they pull, them headlines about the world gone wrong. I'll get to it, I swear I'll do it — right after this, and after that — it won't take long. [Verse 2] A text comes in, a link for me to view — a one-year-old break-dancing, that's new. I watch it twice, I send it to a friend, they send one back, and it's now a trend. [verse 3] I pull up my old posts to check a date, but one leads to the next — they're really great. An hour gone, I've read a dozen through, and I'm still impressed with you-know-who. [Chorus 2] I'm busy with something while nothing gets done. After other things, I'll get to this one. I'll do it, for sure, don't you know — But results are bound to be a no-show. [Bridge] And just as I sit down, when my will is at its peak, I read a thing so wrong that I'm forced to critique. 'Cause that's a task I know I won't regret, correcting someone who is wrong on the internet. [Verse 4] Three hours later, my data says I'm right, but the "someone" says they're calling it a night. They end with saying what aggrieves me, that we'll just have to agree to disagree. [Verse 5] I turn to Roy to get me back on track, but it hallucinates so much I give it flack. Sometimes it helps with what I write, but other times it lacks insight. [Chorus 3] I'll get to it, I'll get to it — today's got a Sunday-shaped hole where it can go. For now I've made a song about the things I didn't do, which — think about it — counts as following through.
