he Betrayal of the Gods (part IV - Hard Man Saga)

V5

Verse 1 He climbed the mountains black with age, Where thunder hides its scars, Past ruins men forgot to name, And fields of fallen stars. He’d walked the length of mortal time, He’d seen all kingdoms fade And in the silence of his march, He cursed the hand that made. Verse 2 “For every life I tried to save, Another soul was lost. For every mercy I was shown, A greater shadow crossed. If this was love from realms above, Then love’s a cruel disguise For angels weep, but never speak, And truth wears Loki’s eyes.” Chorus Oh, Hard Man, weary and defied, You’ve bled though stone, you’ve never died. Now call the gods to judgment’s door, And ask them what this pain was for. Verse 3 In Asgard’s hall he cast the flag, The one he’d borne so long, Its glow now faint, but humming still, A relic of their wrong. The golden walls began to fade, The laughter turned to screams, As heaven saw reflected there The ruin of its schemes. Verse 4 Odin rose, one eye aflame, His ravens black as sin, “You speak of right, but mortal fool, You know not what’s within. We shape, we break, we test, we try, We weave what must be done.” But Hard Man raised his shattered heart “I am not your thread to run.” Bridge (somber, ethereal choir) And in that pause, the cosmos held, Each god forgot their jest. For never had a mortal’s voice So pierced their idle rest. Verse 5 Then Loki laughed ... a silver sound, That cut like winter’s blade, “You’ve learned the game, you see it now And still you’re not afraid.” He smiled and said, “The choice is thine, Destroy, forgive, or flee For every god requires a man To show them what they’ll be.” Chorus (stronger, defiant) Oh, Hard Man, bearer of the flame, The gods now tremble at your name. No fate nor thread nor thunder’s law Can chain the will that mortals draw. Verse 6 (resolution) He took the banner from the floor, And raised it to the skies, “Then let this light no longer blind, But open mortal eyes.” The heavens cracked, the stars fell low, The Bifrost burned to sand, And gods withdrew from mortal sight Their games no longer grand. Final Chorus (slow, reverent) Hard Man, weary, yet unbowed, You’ve silenced heaven’s jeering crowd. But stone endures, though flesh may fail And fate begins where faith turns frail. Outro (spoken, fading) Now he walks between the worlds, No god, no man, no kin The banner’s glow within his chest, Awaiting hands of sin or kin. For when the ages darken once more, And chaos stirs again The Hard Man’s gift, the curse of stone, Will seek another man.
