mind siphon - response to a response V20
You say I sound too mythic, far too sharpened by the tale, As if manipulation needs collapsing towers just to fail. You want me small and ordinary, some practiced narcissistic fraud, A lonely man with borrowed charm pretending he is god. The ruins were already present, cracked foundations split with age, I simply learned which empty rooms were easiest to engage. Of course the fractures came before; seeds never bloom in stone, I never built their hunger, only learned its native tongue. “No circuits blinked,” you say to me, “no systems there to hack,” Yet people loop through patterned fears their whole lives without a back. Habits nested into trauma, wants rehearsed through endless years, Personalities constructed out of unresolved fears. I only listened carefully beneath the words they spoke, Till I could hear the hidden gears beneath the selves they wore like cloaks. No magic tricks or sorcery, no psychic force imposed, Just pattern recognition where most others never come close. You ask if they were lonely souls who only wished for care. Yes. No person hands autonomy to someone holding knives, They give it to the ones who make them feel seen in their lives. You think that makes me lesser somehow, smaller in my design? The gentlest poisons often leave the deepest marks within the mind. You call it over-dramatized — “rewired trust,” and “stolen light,” Perhaps because in simpler terms it sounds too much like your life. So let me strip the language down to something plainly said: I learned which words make people place their instincts second best. Which phrases make them doubt themselves and trust my vision more, Until their inner boundaries no longer guarded doors. No hypnosis in the dark, no supernatural art, Just patience mixed with timing and a map of human hearts. And yes, eventually some escaped the gravity that I spun, Because no form of control exists forever over someone. Some rebuilt themselves much wiser, some grew colder from my pain, Some still hear my voice echo softly through their brain. Influence rarely disappears because someone walks free, It lingers in the architecture of who they came to be. There’s nothing grand or noble in becoming skilled at this, It’s repetitive and hollow work performed through practiced scripts. Most predators are predictable once you learn their trade, Yet forests still die slowly underneath each blade. Wells are poisoned quietly, entire lives collapse unheard, And people lose themselves through nothing more than my words. You wanted me reduced to something painfully mundane, But that’s the truth you still resist despite your need to explain. If I were visibly monstrous, they’d have noticed me from the start, But horror works much better when it first resembles heart. The terrifying thing is not how powerful that I seem, It’s how little intervention’s needed to reshape a dream. The correct words and placed just right, Inside a wounded corner someone struggles still to fight. Not because they all were stupid, not because I was divine, But because humans ache for meaning almost all the time. Enough to mistake intrusion for salvation when distressed, Enough to let another person reorganize their chest. Not poetic masterminds or devils towering above, Just ordinary people weaponizing trust and love. And unlike myths or monsters people warn each other of, Ordinary faces rarely trigger fear enough. So by the time the damage surfaces beneath the skin, The architect is somewhere else already beginning again.
