Hosanna Turns to Crucify

[Verse 1] Palm leaves on the ground Kids up in the trees Sun stuck on the rooftops Warm Jerusalem breeze Here comes Jesus down the road Riding that ass so slow Was it one Was it two Donkeys side by side in a row [Chorus] Hosanna Hosanna They’re throwing down their coats in the dust Hosanna Hosanna Sing it loud Sing it loud Sing it loud with us Same mouths that praise on Sunday sky By Friday afternoon will cry Crucify [Verse 2] Some swear they saw a second colt Tied up by the city gate Some laugh and say “Man Can you imagine If He rolled in on a T‑rex late?” (hey) A dinosaur under desert sun Tiny arms Big stomping stride Still the same strange kingdom king Still the same crowd changing sides [Chorus] Hosanna Hosanna They’re throwing down their coats in the dust Hosanna Hosanna Sing it loud Sing it loud Sing it loud with us Same mouths that praise on Sunday sky By Friday afternoon will cry Crucify [Bridge] From branches waving like a choir To torches lifting in the night From “Save us now Son of David” To “Nail Him up That’s our right” Voices don’t remember well Crowds can turn on just one word But He rode in Eyes wide open Took the hit He always heard [Chorus] Hosanna Hosanna On a humble beast Not a throne so high Hosanna Hosanna Hear the echo underneath their cry Same mouths that praise on Sunday sky By Friday afternoon will cry Crucify Crucify
