Verse 1 If you ever make a deal with the devil Better read every word in the ink He’ll show up looking just like an angel Buy you roses, then poison the drink He’ll swear that forever means forever While he’s hiding a match up his sleeve And the sweetest lips can tell the darkest lies When they know how badly you wanna believe Pre-Chorus I thought love was blind Turns out I just closed my eyes But I see you now And baby, so does the sky Chorus If you ever make a deal with the devil Don’t be shocked when he comes to collect He’ll take your heart, leave you dancing in ashes Then act like you’re the one in his debt I gave you heaven, you gave me hell But I came back stronger than ever So if you ever make a deal with the devil Make damn sure you’re the devil’s better Verse 2 You loved me best when I was forgiving When I made every wrong disappear But a woman can only keep kneeling so long Before she remembers why God put her here Now your name doesn’t sound like a promise It sounds like a lesson I learned You can play with fire, call yourself fearless Till the woman you burned starts watching you burn Pre-Chorus You thought I’d stay Like smoke trapped in your room But the wind changed sides And now it’s coming for you Chorus If you ever make a deal with the devil Don’t be shocked when he comes to collect He’ll take your heart, leave you dancing in ashes Then act like you’re the one in his debt I gave you heaven, you gave me hell But I came back stronger than ever So if you ever make a deal with the devil Make damn sure you’re the devil’s better Bridge I don’t need revenge I don’t need your apology You’ll lose enough sleep Knowing you lost me I walked through the flames With my halo held high Now I’m wearing red lipstick And waving goodbye Final Chorus If you ever make a deal with the devil Don’t forget he can look like a man He can hold you close, call you his future While he’s ruining everything that he can I gave you heaven, you gave me hell Now I know I deserved so much better And if you ever make a deal with the devil— Baby, make sure you’re the devil’s better Outro Yeah, you played with fire But I control the weather If you ever make a deal with the devil… Make damn sure you’re the devil’s better.
