When the moon hangs low and the streetlights dim, I shed my clothes with a mischievous grin, Nothing but air across my skin, The gnome thief's nightly hunt begins. [Chorus ] I'm the gnome thief, sneaking through your roses, Stark naked bandit, creep through the shadows noiseless, One by one, they're coming with me, Bearded little buddies, cant hide from me. [Verse 2 ] Got a burlap sack and a fearless stride, No clothing, no shame, just the dark to hide, They stand so still by your tulip beds, But they're nodding "yes" when I bow my head. [Chorus ] I'm the gnome thief, creeping through your roses, Birthday-suited prowler, creep through the shadows noiseless, Fishing rods and lanterns, pointy hats galore, I want you, ceramic friends—and forty more. [Bridge ] [Final Chorus ] I'm the gnome thief, master of the garden, Bare beneath the stars, begging no one's pardon, When you wake and find your gnome has fled, A naked shadow came—now he's mine instead.
