[Verse 1] The dust remembers where I’m going Long before I ever leave Every mile arrives behind me Every road refuses me The wind keeps telling me I’m finished Though the night has just begun Every shadow walks beside me But none of them can run [Pre-Chorus] I don’t outride the horizon It moves wherever I stand [Chorus] In a fortnight they’ll find me Where the road forgot my name I was leaving long before them But I’m standing just the same Let the thunder chase the silence Let the silence hunt the flame If the ending starts behind me Then the road was never change [Verse 2] The stars are buried in the sand Every promise breaks the plan I hear the riders in the distance Though their tracks are still ahead [Pre-Chorus 2] I don’t bargain with tomorrow It already knows my face [Bridge ] No direction No return Every step becomes the burn If the road moves If I stay Then the chase was always me [Final Chorus] In a fortnight they’ll find me Where the horizon folds in two Every mile becomes the hunter Every hunter becomes you If the dust keeps all the answers Let it bury what I knew I was running from the ending But the ending ran me through [Outro ] The road doesn’t follow. The road arrives.
