One thing I’ve learned in life and know No matter where we come or go The smiles you see often do hide A broken heart deep down inside Some point to kindness and appeal A kinder world they say will heal The darkness in the human heart For love, they say, is where to start Some say that life will be so great If in this world we legislate The perfect laws and spend a mint On ever growing government Some say that happiness it brings When getting more of everything So work only unto yourself And put your trophies on a shelf Some say that, no, they do insist, That you must be a minimalist Give all your things unto the poor Then true peace you will have in store Some say that if you have more likes And social media trending spikes You will achieve such great success That going viral means you’re blessed Some say philosophy and zen The greatest thoughts of mortal men Are the source, and there derive The inner peace for which they strive The truth, you see, I know, my friend Is that your soul will never end Beyond the pain and joy on earth Only Jesus Christ can bring rebirth He paid our sin-debt when He died Arose from the grave, He is Alive! Christ ascended up into heaven To take His seat on God’s right hand He’s coming back again as King We eagerly await and sing But meanwhile as we’re standing by May He we ever glorify
