The evening air is sharp and cold, the streetlights start to glow, We're standing by the curb side now, anticipating the show. All the faces look up high, for Santa to go by, Then down the block, a distant sound, of marching feet and drums, The neighborhood is gathered now, because the parade comes! Oh, the parade is passing through! The floats are bright with sheen, Jingle bells on every float, the best you've ever seen! We're singing carols, old and new, beneath the falling flakes, The sound of Christmas ringing out, for goodness gracious sakes! We huddle close, we watch the kids, in wooly scarves and winter hats, The neighborhood on floats and trucks, immune to cold and rains. We stop for hot cocoa steaming, beside the towering tree, A thousand lights lit up the square, for all the world to see! The oldest voices, clear and strong, start the tune by heart, Every person joins the chorus, right there from the start. The frost might make your fingers numb, but the music warms the air, That special, simple Christmas magic that we all can share. Oh, the parade is passing through! The floats are bright with sheen, Jingle bells on every float, the best you've ever seen! We're singing carols, old and new, beneath the falling flakes, The sound of Christmas ringing out, for goodness gracious sakes! The floats roll on, the music fades, but the feeling lingers still, From every neighbor, near and far, a warm and hopeful thrill. Jingle, jingle, jingle... down the block and out of sight... Merry Christmas to the neighborhood tonight!
