Sometimes in life, we lose everything, even our homes. So many people struggle with homelessness— They are invisible, unseen, unheard... hmmmmm ooooo, oh Lordddd! **[Soulful Vocals – Verse 1]** Have you ever passed by someone destitute? We must remember, that’s a human being. Have you ever passed by someone with nothing? That’s a person, a soul, a human being (hmmm human). **[Bridge]** For the struggle, oh, it doesn’t disappear— The struggle lingers day after day. People turn their eyes away, Nowhere to stay, nowhere to call home. Ohhh nowhere to stay... nowhere to call home. **[Soulful Chorus]** I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), Look at the blisters on my feet (my feet). I’m homeless—this sidewalk is my yard, my retreat. I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), So many blisters on my feet (my feet). I’m homeless, the sidewalk my yard, my retreat... My yard, my retreat. **[Soulful Vocals – Verse 2]** Have you ever passed by someone living on the street? We must remember, that’s a human being. Have you ever walked past someone lying on the ground? That’s a person, a soul, a human being (listen, people). **[Bridge]** For the struggle, oh, it is all too real— The struggle persists; that’s the deal. People ignore because they can’t feel, Nowhere to stay, no shelter, what an ordeal... Oh Selassie I, what an ordeal. **[Soulful Chorus]** I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), Blisters cover my feet (my feet). I’m homeless—the sidewalk is my yard, my retreat. I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), Blisters on my feet (my feet). I’m homeless—the sidewalk my yard, my retreat, This is my yard, my yard. **[Soulful Vocals – Verse 3]** Have you ever passed by the one who is homeless? We must remember, that’s a human being. Have you ever walked past someone living on the floor? That’s a person, a soul, a human being (they’re struggling). **[Bridge]** The struggle, oh, it lingers on, They struggle silently; they don’t complain. People, look at them trying to sleep in the rain— In the cold—oh, what a shame. What a shame, hmmm Lord. **[Soulful Chorus]** Listen to my words! I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), Blisters cover my feet (my feet). I’m homeless—the sidewalk is my yard, my retreat. I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), Blisters on my feet (my feet). I’m homeless—the sidewalk my yard, my retreat, This is my yard, my retreat. **[Outro]** I cannot sleep (cannot sleep), Struggling on the street, I cannot sleep (cannot sleep). Oh, it’s not fair. Hmmmm Lord, I cannot sleep (cannot sleep). People suffer every day. Hear me now—I cannot sleep... **[Instrumental Outro]** This version maintains the emotional depth and poetic rhythm of the original while refining the language for a polished, heartfelt delivery.
