“The Cry Inside of Me”
“The Cry Inside of Me” (©CHRIS@ASTI@2013) --- Verse 1 There’s a sound beneath my ribs, a trembling ghost I can’t escape. It wakes me when the nights are deep, it pulls me from the quiet shape of everything I try to build, of all the truths I try to hide— a voice that claws beneath my skin, that lives and burns from deep inside. It whispers when the lights go out, it screams when I’m too tired to breathe. It shakes the walls around my heart, it’s begging me to never leave. Like a shadow sewn into my bones, like a storm beneath my skin— it grows each time I try to calm the rush of everything I’ve been. --- Pre-Chorus And I’m breaking underneath it, but it never lets me fall. It’s the echo of my weakness, and the strongest part of all. --- Chorus ’Cause there’s a cry inside of me that never learns to fade, a wild and wounded melody that tears through every vein. It clings to me like darkness, it eats me from within— and I’m fragile as a whisper in the fury of this wind. Yeah, the cry inside of me keeps breaking who I am— but somehow in the ruin I still try to stand. --- Verse 2 I’ve tried to drown it in the noise, I’ve tried to lock it in my chest. I’ve buried it beneath my dreams, but it claws through all the rest. It rises when the world is quiet, when no one sees me come undone— it spreads like ash across my heart from fires I cannot outrun. It twists around my every heartbeat, it pulls me down like tides of fear. A fragile storm, a broken prayer, a truth that no one wants to hear. It’s hunger wrapped in loneliness, a beast that never sleeps— it knows the cracks within my soul, the wounds I couldn’t keep. --- Pre-Chorus And every time I fight it, it grows sharper than before. It’s the shadow of my longing knocking down another door. --- Chorus ’Cause there’s a cry inside of me that never learns to fade, a wild and wounded melody that tears through every vein. It clings to me like darkness, it eats me from within— and I’m fragile as a whisper in the fury of this wind. Yeah, the cry inside of me keeps breaking who I am— and every time I hold it it slips right through my hands. --- Bridge (long, intense, emotional) And it screams— like a child lost in the cold, like a truth that’s left untold, like a memory growing old. And it burns— like a flame without a name, like a wound that has no shame, like a heart that breaks the same. And it shakes me— throws me down upon my knees, pulls the ground from under me, takes the air I need to breathe. But somewhere in the breaking, in the shards that cut so deep— I feel the faintest shimmer of the strength I swore to keep. --- Chorus (bigger, more painful, more powerful) There’s a cry inside of me that refuses to be still, a fire made of longing, a storm I cannot will. It shatters all my armor, it crawls beneath my scars— it leaves me torn and trembling underneath a thousand stars. Yeah, the cry inside of me keeps tearing at the seams— but somehow in the ruin I still try to dream. --- Verse 3 (quiet, raw) And maybe I am fragile, but fragile doesn’t mean I break. I shake beneath the pressure, but I rise from every ache. And though the cry consumes me, though it claws through every night— I’m more than just the broken, I’m the flame that still ignites. --- Final Chorus (epic, emotional, cathartic) So let the cry inside of me scream louder than before, let it rip apart the shadows, let it open every door. I’ll face the storm it carries, I’ll walk the trembling line— ’cause even in the breaking all the pieces still are mine. Yeah, the cry inside of me won’t drown me in the end— I’ll rise above the wreckage, I’ll breathe, I’ll heal, I’ll mend. --- Outro (soft, like an echo fading) There’s a cry inside of me, but I’m learning how to hear it— learning how to hold the pain instead of how to fear it. And one day when it quiets, I’ll know what set me free— the scream that once destroyed me became the voice inside of me.
