The Rumor Is The News (Cinematic Folk 01)

[Verse 1] Some account with forty followers and a bone to pick Posted something breathless at a quarter after six No source, no name, no document, just vibes and punctuation By morning it was trending as a confirmed situation [Chorus 1] The rumor is the news now, the noise is the fact A post becomes a headline and there's no taking it back We don't need the truth when the story feels right The rumor is the news and it's trending tonight [Verse 2] Two famous people breathing in the same zip code That's enough for seventeen think-pieces on the road An insider, a whisper, "things haven't felt the same" Nobody checked the source but everybody knows the name [Chorus 2] The rumor is the news now, the signal is the static We built a world of certainty from something pure dramatic Why confirm a story when the clicks are rolling in The rumor is the news and we all keep scrolling [Bridge] You want proof? That's so last decade Proof takes time and time is money Everybody's got an angle Everybody thinks it's funny Till the thing they said about you Hits your feed at half past three Then the rumor is the news, friend — Now how does that feel to thee [Chorus 3] The rumor is the news now, we traded in the real For something faster, louder, with a much more urgent feel Taylor might be fine, Travis might not care But the rumor is the news now And the rumor's everywhere [Outro - spoken] No sources were harmed in the making of this story. They were never consulted to begin with.
