Roots of Karametra - The Revolution Will Be Homegrown
They built a world that only works If we stay afraid. Afraid to ask neighbors for help. Afraid to touch dirt. Afraid to rest. Afraid to need each other. So they sold us convenience. Sold us loneliness. Sold us food grown nowhere near us By people we never see. Then acted surprised When the spirit got hungry. But I have seen another way. I have seen six families feed a block. I have seen heirloom tomatoes beat despair. I have seen neighbors helping neighbors in moments of uncertainty. I have seen community spread faster than fear… They told us: Work harder Buy smarter Keep climbing Buy, sell, hoard Meanwhile the dandelions forgot to care The mint kept spreading Potatoes still sprouting There’s a woman on the corner Turning abandoned medians into medicine And nobody asked permission. Somebody painted over the billboard: FEED EACH OTHER Nobody removed it. You can’t arrest spring forever You can’t patent rain No kings coming to save us No app coming to save us… Only us! The revolution will be homegrown Backyards, rooftops, vacant lots No flags above us Only laundry and bean poles The revolution will be homegrown Hands in the dirt instead of raised in fear If the machine wants lonely people… We’ll become neighbors again The old factory still stands empty But somebody planted squash inside The loading dock became a market Nobody selling Only exchanging, Seeds Food Skills Time An old mechanic teaches welding For fresh bread and pepper starts Children learn compost first And economics second The news called it disorder. The people called it Saturday. You can’t arrest spring forever You can’t patent rain No kings coming to save us No app coming to save us… Only us! The revolution will be homegrown Backyards, rooftops, vacant lots No flags above us Only laundry and bean poles The revolution will be homegrown Hands in the dirt instead of raised in fear If the machine wants lonely people… We’ll become neighbors again You want resistance? Learn your neighbors’ names. Learn how to grow onions. Learn how to fix things. Learn how to sit at a table Without trying to win. The revolution will be homegrown Backyards, rooftops, vacant lots No flags above us Only laundry and bean poles The revolution will be homegrown Hands in the dirt instead of raised in fear If the machine wants lonely people… We’ll become neighbors again The revolution will be homegrown By people who stayed soft By people who planted fruit trees Knowing they’d never eat from them The revolution will be homegrown Garden rows and open gates Greenhouses after work And shared meals at night Homegrown… The revolution will be homegrown… Homegrown… The revolution will be… Homegrown… The revolution will be… Homegrown… The revolution will be…
