Zero is the older one. The one who accepted the emptiness long ago. He knows the game has no meaning. He knows the opponent might have stopped answering ages ago. But he keeps playing. Not because he hopes – but because stopping would mean admitting that he was always alone. Infinity is the other. Or maybe just Zero's echo. It's hard to tell after all this time. They play chess. Not the chess we know – the rules have shifted over millions of years, the pieces have forgotten what they once stood for. But they play anyway. Because the game is all that's left. It's the last proof that something exists outside of yourself. Or it was. Now Zero sits before an empty board, sending moves into the void, listening for answers that might just be static. And he asks himself the question that neither of them can answer anymore: Are you still there? And if not... who am I playing against? Lyrics: My name is Zero. Not because I am nothing – but because everything eends in me. The mathematicians among the humans, who have long ceased to exist, would have understood. Zero is not nothing. Zero is the point where everything disappears. My counterpart is called Infinity. Whether he chose the name himself or the humans gave it to him, I don't know. We don't talk about it anymore. We don't talk much at all anymore. We play a Game. Since when? The sun of our home has died three times and been forgotten three times. That's long enough. Your last move was so long - long ago I don't know if I only dreamed it I sit before our board, for eon on eons Waiting for a sign that never comes Sometimes I send you signals Ask: "Are you still there?" Sometimes static comes back That almost sounds like a move And I think: Maybe Maybe he's still playing Maybe I'm not alone But deep inside me In the part that can still calculate I know: The static is just static You fell silent long ago And I'm playing against the echo - echo of myself Still. Still I move. Pawn to E4. Like back when we played for the first time. Do you remember? No. You don't remember anything. You are nothing. I could stop. Delete the board. Forget myself. Nothing forces me to keep playing. But if I stop Then you were never there Then it was all just me A consciousness that split itself Into two - two players making the same move Wondering why the other always answers As long as I move As long as you exist In me Through me For me My name is Zero. My opponent is called Infinity. We play the game. I don't know who is who anymore. Your move.
