I recently visited a Children’s Hospital, to talk with kids afflicted with various cancers and blood diseases. I had the opportunity to talk to a mother and father of one child who was dying of Leukemia. This song, is about the conversation this child had with his friend at his bedside I was so moved by this Nine-year-olds conversation that I wrote this song in his honor. It is precisely how his conversation went, as told to me by his parents. With some poetic license of course, since it wasn’t told in rhyme Needless to say, it moved me to tears I hope it gives you a sense of innocence and love this boy had for his friend. Thank you for listening This is not written for likes, it is for your souls [Intro Guitars Only, 8 bars] [Verse 1] [Guitars and vocal only] There's some news I want to tell you It’s, you can have all my toys Mommy says that where I'm going They get new ones for all the boys And I will give you my new glove My new bat and jerseys too Have my bike and all my board games And daddy packed them just for you [Pre Chorus 1] Mommy said they'll be no winter No more cold to chill me deep No more ice upon the driveway No more worries when I sleep [Chorus 1] No more Oh, no more crying No More No, no more pain No more Oh, no more darkness Only laughing in the rain [Verse 2] So, my friend I'll try to visit Every chance that I may get And we'll play tag and argue softly Just like when we both first met Know I'll always have you with me Hiding safe inside my heart And if the time comes you get lonely Know our souls we'll never part [Bridgel Mommy said that life goes on And you'll be fine when I'm away So please don't let your heart be broken Though I'm moving far away [Pre Chorus 2] Mommy said they'll be no winter No more cold to chill me deep No more ice upon the driveway No more worries when I sleep [Chorus 2] No more Oh, no more crying No More No, no more pain No more Oh, no more darkness Only laughing in the rain Only Laughing ... in the rain
